Bank bonuses are great but one of the big (and annoying) requirements on many promotions is that you set up a direct deposit from your employer or government benefits.

Switching those direct deposit details can be a pain so what about offers that don’t require it?

They’re rarer, because they make you less likely to keep the account in the first place, but they’re still available.

Bank of Hope – $500

If you have $20,000 and happen to live in AL, CA, IL, NJ, NY, TX, VA, or WA – take a look at the Bank of Hope.

They will give you $500 if you are able to open an account in a branch (required, not available online) and satisfy a few simple conditions.

Just open a new personal checking or business checking and deposit at least $20,000 of new funds into your account and keep it there for the first four months.

Then, you must do all of the following within 90 days of opening your account (these are trivial requirements):

  1. Request a debit card and make at least one purchase or ATM deposit/withdrawal
  2. Register for Personal Online Banking or Business Online Banking

Ponce Bank – up to $125

Ponce Bank has a great $125 bonus that does not require you to set up a direct deposit. All you need to do is deposit cash into your account before April 30, 2021.

The bonus is based on how much you deposit into your account:

  • Get $25 on your first $5,000 deposit, then,
  • Receive an additional $5 for every $5,000 deposit after that, up to $125.

Alliant Credit Union — up to $100

Alliant Credit Union has a partnership with Suze Orman called “The Ultimate Opportunity Savings Account” where you can get up to $100 when you open a new Alliant Credit Union account by December 31st and make deposits of at least $100 a month for twelve months.

These deposits do not have to be direct deposits, they just have to be transfers into the account. Make sure it’s at least $100 a month for a full year and you’re set. The first transfer has to be done within 30 days and they deposit the $100 bonus after 12 months.

Opt for eStatements and you can avoid the monthly maintenance fees.

Huntington 5 Checking – $200

Huntington Bank has several new bank account offers starting with $200 when you open a new Huntington 5 Checking account and make cumulative deposits of at least $1,000 within sixty days of opening your account. This is just new to Huntington funds and doesn’t have to be a direct deposit.

Associated Bank Checking — up to $500

Associated Bank’s has three promotions (three tiers) for their checking and savings account – the Associated Access Checking, Associated Balanced Checking, and Associated Choice Checking.

Open an account with the required minimum balance (listed below) and your bonus is calculated based on your account balance from the 60th to 90th day (a little weird but the list below should make sense):

For the Associated Access Checking, the minimum deposit is $25. it is $100 for the Associated Balanced Checking and Associated Choice Checking accounts.

This is how much you get based on your average daily balance over days 61-90:

  • For amounts $1,000 to $4,999.99 – you earn $200;
  • For amounts $5,000 to $9,999.99 – you earn $300;
