Bank bonuses are great but one of the big (and annoying) requirements on many promotions is that you set up a direct deposit from your employer or government benefits.
Switching those direct deposit details can be a pain so what about offers that don’t require it?
They’re rarer, because they make you less likely to keep the account in the first place, but they’re still available. They’re often structured where you have to keep a large sum in there for 90-120 days, but if they pay a reasonable amount of interest, it can still be a good offer.

Barclays is offering a $200 bonus for new customers.
Open a new Savings account, deposit $25,000 or more within 30 days and maintain at least $25,000 for the next 120 days.
After you’ve maintained the balance for 120 days, the bonus will be deposited in approximately 60 days. There is no direct deposit requirement.

Wells Fargo has two promotions that do not require a direct deposit:
Wells Fargo Savings – $525
If you want to collect $525 from Wells Fargo and have $25,000 lying around, here’s how you can get it:

Wells Fargo Premier – $3,500
Wells Fargo has a Premier Checking account that offers a massive $3,500 if you bring over more than a quarter of a million dollars.
To get this sizable bonus, you need to:
- Open a new Premier Checking account at a Wells Fargo branch with a minimum opening deposit of $25 by 5/21/2024. You must provide the bonus offer code to the banker at the time of account opening. (they email it to you when you fill out the form on the promo page)
- Bring $500,000 or more in new deposits to qualifying linked accounts by Day 45 and maintain at least a $500,000 balance through Day 90 after account upgrade or opening.

First Horizon Checking Bonus – $450
First Horizon has a $450 bonus on their checking account if you meet a few simple conditions.
You have to be a new client and maintain an average daily collected balance of $5,000 in your total deposit balance AND make a minimum of 10 qualifying transactions for each statement cycle for the first three full statement cycles. That’s it!
A “qualifying client-initiated transaction” is broad. It includes deposits, checks paid, ACH items, and signature and PIN-based purchases made with a First Horizon Debit Card.
One caveat – the offer page says that the “Offer is only available to the addressee of the offer, is non-transferable, may not be combined with other offers, and is only available for new clients that have not had an account at First Horizon within the last 12 months.” But you can get an offer code sent to you if you enter your information on the page we link to below.
This offer is available in LA, NY, SC, TX, TN, AR, MS, AL, GA, KY, FL, NC and VA.
There is a $2 monthly fee but waived if you opt for electronic statements plus you need to keep the account open for six months or you forfeit the bonus.

Huntington Bank Platinum Perks Checking – $600
Huntington Bank is offering a bank bonus on their Huntington Bank Platinum Perks Checking account and get $600 when you meet the qualifying requirements.
Just open it before the deadline, make cumulative new money deposits of $25,000 within 90 days of account opening, keep that money in there for 90 days, and you can get $600 deposited within 14 days of meeting that requirement. Available to residents of Colorado, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, West Virginia, or Wisconsin.
The Huntington Platinum Perks Checking account has a maintenance fee you can get waived if you meet certain conditions.

CIBC Bank USA – up to $500
CIBC Bank USA has a bank bonus promotion where you can get a up to $500 cash bonus when you open a CIBC Agility Online Savings Account and deposit funds of $25,000 or more in New Money from an external bank by 12/19/2023 and keep those funds in the account until 3/18/2024. There is a minimum $1,000 deposit and no monthly fees.
Best of all, the account offers a yield of 5.01% APY so you earn interest while you wait for the waiting period to end.
The bonus will depend on the amount deposited by 12/9/2023:
- Get $250 if you deposit between $25,000 and $49,999,
- Get $500 when you deposit over $50,000.
You must have less than $500,000 in the account though. (it’s a strange quirk in the terms and conditions)

South State Bank — $200
South State Bank has an offer of $200 and you have to satisfy these two conditions with 60 days:
- make a minimum of 15 debit card purchases or payments, and,
- Have a monthly total of $250 qualifying direct deposit OR preauthorized automatic draft(s) of $25.
As you can see, a direct deposit is one of the options but is not required. You can satisfy it by making enough purchases.
You must also be a resident of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, or Virginia.

Alliant Credit Union — up to $100
Alliant Credit Union has a partnership with Suze Orman called “The Ultimate Opportunity Savings Account” where you can get up to $100 when you open a new Alliant Credit Union account by December 31st and make deposits of at least $100 a month for twelve months.
These deposits do not have to be direct deposits, they just have to be transfers into the account. Make sure it’s at least $100 a month for a full year and you’re set. The first transfer has to be done within 30 days and they deposit the $100 bonus after 12 months.
Opt for eStatements and you can avoid the monthly maintenance fees.

Associated Bank Checking — up to $600
Associated Bank’s has three promotions (three tiers) for their checking and savings account – the Associated Access Checking, Associated Balanced Checking, and Associated Choice Checking.
Open an account with the required minimum balance (listed below) and your bonus is calculated based on your account balance from the 60th to 90th day (a little weird but the list below should make sense):
For the Associated Access Checking, the minimum deposit is $25. it is $100 for the Associated Balanced Checking and Associated Choice Checking accounts.
This is how much you get based on your average daily balance over days 61-90:
- For amounts $1,000 to $4,999.99 – you earn $300;
- For amounts $5,000 to $9,999.99 – you earn $400;
- For amounts over $10,000 – you earn $600;

Regions Bank LifeGreen Checking — $300
Regions Bank LifeGreen Checking has a $300 offer that has pretty easy requirements to meet – but one of them is to set up a direct deposit.

Regions Bank runs a promotion with their LifeGreen Savings account where you get up to $100, structured as an annual savings bonus.

Capital One 360 Savings – up to $1,500
Capital One has a great no direct deposit offer on their Capital One 360 Performance Savings bonus. Just open an account and deposit at least $20,000 in new funds into the account during the 15-day initial funding period and keep it there for an additional 90 days. No direct deposit required at all.

There are several differences with the two accounts, including how much cash back you can earn, but the fee structure is a key difference. The South State Bank offer information is inaccurate. It should not be on this list. A direct deposit is required to receive the bonus.
