To prevent SIM Swapping, you'll need to go to your carrier and lock your SIM card. This prevents anyone, including employees at the phone company, from transferring your number to another device.
Here are the instructions from each carrier:
- AT&T – How to Lock SIM Card with a PIN
- Consumer Cellular – You have to call in to turn on Line Protection
- Cricket – Turn on Account Lock
- Mint Mobile – Turn on number lock
- T-Mobile – How to prevent unauthorized SIM Swap and port outs
- Tello – You already set up a security PIN on activation, that protects you
- Verizon – How to enabled SIM Protection & Number Lock
- Visible – Turn on Line lock
