Chase Bank Promotions: $200 and $150 Checking & Savings Account Bonuses

When it comes to new account bonuses, Chase Bank offers some of the most generous bonuses – often worth hundreds of dollars when you open a new checking or savings account.

Chase Bank updates these offers from time to time. I’ve seen offers for $350 all the way up to $600. Sometimes there will be multiple promotions on the same accounts, so always go with the higher one if you can meet the balance requirements! We maintain a list of the best bank promotions for a checking and a savings account.

For each offer, you can open an account online or you can request a Chase coupon via email and bring it to your local branch to open an account. While available nationwide, you can only open an account online if you have a physical branch in your state.

Does Chase Bank have any active promotions right now? Yes, here they are:

How does a Chase bonus work? As you’ll see with the list below, Chase will give you a bonus if you open a bank account and meet their conditions. A checking account bonus will require you to open an account and set up a direct deposit. A savings account bonus will require you to open an account and deposit a minimum amount to get the bonus. The terms are easy to achieve and routine, nothing above and beyond what other banks request. I’d consider them all “easy” to achieve without any gotchas.

Chase Total Checking Account – $200

Does Chase really give you $200 to open an account? Yes! – here are the details of the Chase Total Checking Account offer.

You can get $200 when you:

  • Open a new Chase Total Checking account and
  • Set up and receive a Direct Deposit with 60 days. The direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits.
  • If you close the account within 6 months of opening, they will take back the bonus money.

The Chase Total Checking account has a $12 monthly service fee unless you do one of the following:

  1. Have a monthly direct deposit of $500 or more into the account, or,
  2. Keep a minimum daily balance of $1,500 or more in the checking account, or
  3. Keep an average daily balance of $5,000 or more in any combination of qualifying Chase checking, savings, and other balances.

Once you meet the requirements, the bonus will be deposited within 10 business days. The bonus will be reported as interest.

All bonuses are reported as bank interest on Form 1099-INT.

Chase Business Complete BankingSM — $300

If you open a new Chase business checking account and satisfy some qualifying activities, Chase will give you $300 when you:

  • Deposit $2,000 in NEW money within 20 business days of account opening,
  • Maintain a $2,000 balance for 60 days,
  • Complete five qualifying transactions within 60 days – debit card purchases, Chase QuickDeposit, ACH (credits), and wires (credits and debits)

How to Get a Promotional Chase Coupon?

To get these deals, you may need to go to the website and request a “Chase coupon.”

The bonus terms and conditions are above but to get access to the offer, you’ll need to go to the Chase website and request a “coupon.”

Now go to your email account and print out the email they sent. Take it to a branch and open an account. You will need to bring the email, either as a printout or on your phone, so they can enter in the coupon code. It’s a long string of letters and numbers.

If you go to a Chase branch without one of these coupons, wit the coupon code, they may not give you the offer. Go with the coupon and avoid any questions.

That’s all you need to do to get the promotional coupon offer!

Who Is Not Eligible for Chase Bonuses?

There are rules regarding who is eligible for these offers – for each of the checking and savings offers, you cannot get the bonus if you’re an existing Chase customer for that product. So if you have an existing Chase checking account, you cannot get the bonus for the checking offer. If you have an existing Chase savings account, you cannot get the Chase savings account offer.

Also, you can only get one new checking and one new savings account bonus every two years based on the enrollment date.

Things like this can invalidate you so make sure to review our guide on bank account bonuses to see what other gotchas other banks may have in their terms and conditions.

That’s it – enjoy the free cash!

The 14 Best Places To Sell Used Furniture

Which place is best to sell your used furniture depends on what you want to sell and if you are willing to ship it. If you are selling large household furniture, such as your old couch, local marketplaces like Facebook or OfferUp are probably your best bet. However, if you have high-end specialty items you'll likely need a broader market and have to ship it to the buyer. In this case, you'll want to look into places like Sotheby’s or Chairish.

  1. Harmony Collins says

My banker lied to me about this promotion! I was told 3-10 days was the waiting period for the $200 deposit. Now, I see its 60 days!!! Id like to file a complaint.

  2. Jon says

If I’m not that interested, can I just leave? Let’s say I deposit my money in the first week, get the bonus, but decide not to stay. Are there fees or requirements to worry about? From a simple glance at the website and the fine print it looks as though I could close my account the next month and take the money back to my old institution. Is the thought that’s a lot of work so very few people will actually do it?

      • Jenn says

Concerning the $500 offer don’t you have to keep your account for 90 days or is it 6 months? Regardless it’s better interest than you can get just about anywhere. Otherwise the interest on their regular savings, like most, is pretty bad.

        • Jim Wang says

The bonus is awarded after 90 days but you need to keep the account open for six months or they take it back.

From the terms & conditions at the bottom of the page: “Account Closing: If either the checking or savings account is closed by the customer or Chase within six months after opening, we will deduct the bonus amount for that account at closing.”

i have a chase checking but would like to know if there is some kind of bonus for opening a savings account? i would transfer at least $25 per pay check to the savings

    • Jim Wang says

The bonuses we list are the only ones I know about – they’re pretty good though, hundreds of dollars!

  4. Yousuf Karim says

What is the definition of new money. Can I write a check to another account and deposit new money. Is there a waiting period to be new money?

  5. Brach says

You neglected to mention who is NOT eligible for the Chase bonus offers.

    1) At the bottom of the offer page, in the “Bonus/Account Information” section:

“Checking offer is not available to existing Chase checking customers.”

“Savings offer is not available to existing Chase savings customers.”

“Both offers are not available to those with fiduciary accounts, or those whose accounts have been closed within 90 days or closed with a negative balance.”

    2) Buried in the FAQ section for Chase Bonus Offers:

“Keep in mind, you can receive only one new checking and one new savings account opening related bonus every two years from the last enrollment date and only one bonus per account.”

  6. Staci A Shelton says

I opened the savings with 15000 January 18th 2019 and have consistently kept the balance just above. Today is 94 days. Any idea when the $235. bonus will credit?

  7. Ira H Tashman says

What if your checking account has zero balance when you close it after you get the bonus, but less than 6 months? Then how can they take the bonus money back from you?

How to go about getting a bonus for checking account and direct deposit at Chase Bank in Shepherdsville Kentucky

    • Jim Wang says

Please reach out to Chase directly to find out the status of your bonus – the best way is to call them at 1-800-935-9935.

  9. jam says

If I open a checking account online using the coupon code I received from Chase by email, how can I deposit the initial required amount into my account other than visiting a branch?

    • Jim Wang says

I don’t have a Chase bank account but I suspect you can link up an existing bank account elsewhere and transfer the funds via the ACH system.

  10. Jane says

Exactly what does “Set up and receive a Direct Deposit with 60 days. The direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits.” mean? Can’t I simply transfer the money from a personal bank account to Chase? Does it have to be a paycheck from my employee?

    • Jim Wang says

A personal transfer typically won’t count, it’ll have to be a paycheck from your employer or benefits from the government.

      • Jane says

So if I’m self-employed I’d need to use a company’s check to transfer the money from my business account to the personal one, correct?

        • Jim Wang says

I think it needs to be a direct deposit from a payroll system for them to recognize it. I’m not 100% sure though, I would call to find out.

  11. Matt says

How much needs to be direct deposited in order to receive this checkings account bonus? And is it just one deposit or recurring?

    • Jim Wang says

For the Chase Total Checking, there is no requirement on the minimum amount or number of deposits. You can avoid fees by having a direct deposit of $500+.

  12. Leslie says

    For the Chase checking bonus:

The direct deposit needs to be an electronic deposit of your paycheck, pension or government benefits.

Does it HAVE to be only one of the above or could I do an ACH transfer to my account from an external account?

  13. David Belanger says

Are you able to combine bonus offers? For example if I were to open a total checking and chase savings, meeting all the requirements.
